The West Mill Wedding Photography | Rachael & Oliver


Rachael & Oliver had their wedding at The West Mill, Derby. An industrial cotton spinning mill turned into a wedding venue.


Rachael had her morning opposite in The Mill Cottage, before heading over to The West Mill to finish hair and makeup. This was perfect timing for myself and their videographer Pat Holt (Always a pleasure to work alongside Pat!) to take ourselves to one side and capture some details, as well as the beautifully styled ceremony room.


Their ceremony featured some beautiful readings from close friends and family, before heading outside for confetti, group photos, and some celebratory drinks. One of my favourite things about The West Mill is the variety of locations for photos. We were blessed with a dry day (If anyone knows how the weather has been the past few weeks, then you know we've had a lot of rain!), so we were able to head outside to the river for some couples photos, while using the venue courtyard for some family and group shots.


I know we were blessed with dry weather, but one of the biggest advantages of venues like The West Mill, is that if it was raining, the venue has so many options for photos and so much space for guests.


Speeches were held in the reception room, light flowed through the beautiful mill windows and framed the styling perfectly. From disco ball plant pots to pastel florals, it was such a dream!


As the evening celebrations started Rachael & Oliver wanted to do a group champagne spray, which has to be one of my favourites. A great way to get the evening party started! A gorgeous golden hour ended the day perfectly with a few extra portraits, before a cake cut. The dance floor was filled with brilliant entertainment from The Solid Groove Foundation.


At the bottom of this page there are some extra special images captured on 35mm film. Developed by the lovely Come Through Lab as always.
